Only God Can Judge Me

“Only God can judge me.” Those are the most dangerous words I hear a believer say. I have uttered them myself. Is it a true statement? Yes, absolutely true. So, why so dangerous? Well, let’s think about it this way: have you ever heard those words said in light of something positive? “I helped out at the homeless shelter. Only God can judge me!” “I gave a hungry man something to eat. Only God can judge me!” Very rare would it be to reference those words to something positive in your life. So, when those words are said it is most likely pointing to something negative in your life. When I hear someone say them then it tells me at least 2 things. 1. They do at least have the faith of a mustard seed because God is there. And we all know what the faith of a mustard seed can do in their lives! 2. There is something in their life God is convicting them on that they are holding on to. Friend, if these words seem too familiar to you, please look at where you are directing them. What action or non-action makes you feel like only God should be judging you? While those are true words they are not ones you want to live by in that way. God doesn’t expect perfection but He will judge your heart. There is something He is wanting you to give to Him and heal. Let it go! Pray for God to show you how. Be honest with Him about it. Whatever it is, I promise you won’t miss it. Will you fail? Sure. But when God looks at your heart He won’t judge your failures, He will judge where your heart was directed. To the world or to Him? You have no idea what you are missing out on. The healing you can receive! Let it go and submit to Him. You will look back one day and wonder why you even held on to it at all.

Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

Lord, we pray for the lost and broken hearted. We pray for those that feel your conviction and mistake it for judgement from the world. I pray just as you did me and so many others, that you move in their lives and stir their souls to understand you better. To have wisdom that only You can provide. I pray You give us wisdom to know how to love them through this. In Christ name we pray, Amen
