Jesus, thank you that altough Your spirit was in agony over what was about to come, You did it anyway. You could have called angels to be at Your side at anytime, but You stayed the course not just for the people of that day, not just for your disciples, but for ME…for all of us. I thank You Jesus not only for Your sacrifice and torture You went thru for us, but for this night when You could have changed Your mind…when You were filled with such dread of what was on its way….when even your disciples couldnt stay awake in prayer with You and You was on Your own. Jesus, THANK YOU!! This is why I want every waking moment to be Yours. Lord I thank You for this life You have given me. Thank You that when I fall short, Your grace covers me because You stayed the course this very night. In Christ name, Amen
Life is but an earthly walk
to my heavenly home above.
A winding road that crosses paths
with all the ones I love.
At times the stretch before me
may seem clear and full of light.
At times the fear has darkened my way
and I stumble through the night.
Though this way seems long and varied
to the place I am to go.
I continue on my way, all the while,
making peace with friend and foe.
Some trails feel ever so lonely
but no matter where I roam.
My travels have a companion.
I asked Jesus to walk me home.
For the past year I have been at work with God over, what I thought, was a weight problem. He showed me it is actually a food problem. I read books like Thin Within and an online course called Setting Captives Free. They both suggested to come off restrictive diets (unless you have other health issues that require a special diet, of course) and learn your hunger cues. I have fought back and forth with this. I wanted to lose weight the way I always have. Then the word ALWAYS stuck out to me in that sentence. Yeah, I know how to lose weight. I know how to fight it off good quick and in a hurry. But it ALWAYS comes back. Why? Becasue I have a food problem? Sure. But then God told me, go deeper. I started feeling like I only wanted to lose weight for vanity reasons. Pride reasons. I have prayed for God to show me how to do this for His glory and not mine. This morning He gave me an answer. He brought to mind the last time I lost weight. I looked at my reflection and was shocked at what I saw. I liked the way I looked and I felt great. So, what keeps me from going back to that person? I saw my reflection in my window this morning and knew the answer. Because this girl I see today takes very little effort. The girl with this weight isnt going anywhere. I dont have to “try” to be her. She is comfortable. When I lose weight, then that reflection is one that I can lose. It takes effort to keep that reflection. So, I go back to what is easy and comfortable. God does not call us to go to what is easy and comfortable. He calls us to put in effort and He will make it possible. God made us all worth the effort. I am worth the effort. Praise Jesus, He has put worth in me.
So, here is to my weight loss journey. I have not lost a pound last year but I have gained so much more than weight. I have gained the wisdom to drop this burden. Here is to the next year of my life. Here is to letting this weight come off once and for all. Im leaving this burden behind. My Father says I am worth it. In Jesus name, Amen!
2 Timothy 1:7
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
“Those whome I love I rebuke and discipline.” Ugh, who wants to be rebuked and disciplined? I already know Im not perfect, no need to make me feel bad for it! But that’s the thing, He knows you arent perfect and He isnt the one condemning you. Conviction is loving guidance and when you rebel against it then you often feel condemned. Submit and surreneder to the conviction of your loving Father (yes, Lord, I acknowldege my sin, I ask for forgivness and ask for You to step in and change me. I can do nothing without You, and Im thankful to know You will walk with me every step of the way.). As soon as you step in to His goodness and mercy that follow you all the rest of your life (Psalm 23:6) then you feel the condemnation fall away. If you were ever in sports and you told your parents that the coach always seems to be on you, always calling your name, and your parents said its because coach sees your potential. Its when the coach stops calling your name that you should worry. Same here. When you feel the conviction of God in your life dont think of that as a bad thing. Its when you stop feeling it that you should worry.
Is Jesus knocking on your door? Are you scared to let Him in because you dont want the conviction? Are you scared you wont be good enough? Pray over that. We are all found wanting, my friend. We all fall short. If any of us got it right all the time then why did Jesus die on that cross? He is here to change us, each and every day. That conviction of love we may not be used to right away but dont let it scare you away. Our momentary afflictions are but a vapor in this life. We have a whole eternity awaiting us. What door do you want open to you? I can tell you which door Jesus wants you to open right now. He loves you. He made you for such a time as this. Open that door.
My thoughts in this:
Ok, so what I am gathering is…the verse is more of a “find a refuge in God” than it is a “go in your house and quarantine”. Also, this is not the first plague known to man. Read of the spanish flu of 1918 and all the lives it took. As Bro. Brent said last sunday when answering the question “is this a sign of the end times?” Well…we cant say yes but we cant say no either. We are always to be ready (meaning being saved) either way so if you are, fear not. Enter the chambers of your heart where God resides and take comfort. All difficult seasons last only but a little while. As far as that verse directly prophesying what is happening today with quarantine… i dont think so. With that said the bible does speak of obeying the authorities (as long as it doesnt go against the Word) in Romans 13. So, if the government says stop traveling, stop meeting in large numbers, and what not then we should listen. Not out of fear but obedience.
3 So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.”
4 When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”
This is the story of Lazurus, but as I read thoughts come to mind that “the one you love” is us. This sickness will not prevail in the end even in death because even in death, those that believe will rise again. God’s glory can be seen through all things good, bad, and the like.
6 So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days, 7 and then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.”
8 “But Rabbi,” they said, “a short while ago the Jews there tried to stone you, and yet you are going back?”
9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? Anyone who walks in the daytime will not stumble, for they see by this world’s light. 10 It is when a person walks at night that they stumble, for they have no light.”
Even though many people of this world have fought to keep Jesus out, He comes back still. He comes to save every soul even though He is rejected by so many. He wants us all to see the light so we no longer stumble in the dark. It is through tough times that some will leave the dark behind. Jesus knows this and will at times allow darkness for a time so His light can be seen.
11 After he had said this, he went on to tell them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up.”
He is always here to wake us up.
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
Do you believe? If so, then you live in the comfort that Paul decribes in Phillipans 1:21 “to live is Christ, to die is gain.” When we leave this world we arise to see our glorious Lord’s face. I want to fulfill every purpose I have here on earth, but I long for the ultimate gain I receive when I wake up in heaven with the true Love of my life. Thanks to my Saviour, death does not scare me. For on the cross to the tomb to resurrection, Jesus beat death for us all that believe. Do you believe?
40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
Why do people reject God? Deny the very thought of Him? I can understand if they have felt like they have always had harsh judgement upon them and life has been full of situations that left them wondering why any God would allow such things. But on another hand, someone else goes through the same difficulties and is brought out healed and restored by their faith in God. While the other struggles, constantly searching for ways to heal, to be rescued. Maybe someone believes they went to God for help and since it didnt happen how they felt it needed to then God is either against them or not there. I feel I have always been blessed with the knowledge there is a God. I have always felt His presence even when I strayed. I have someone very close to me that has chosen to deny God. This is someone I love very much. It hurts my heart. I ask you to join me in prayer over this person and any person you have close to you.
Dear Lord, I pray over the lost. You know there is one near and dear to me. Lord, how I wish I could just lay a hand on them and let Your love flow thru. How I wish when I remove my hand they understand and know You. I have prayed for so long and I know you hear me. That soul inside of him belongs to You and longs for You. I pray you wipe away the influence that is keeping him from accepting You. I pray You turn his heart of stone to flesh and soften His attitude towards You. I pray You help all understand that the universe is not god. The maker of the universe is God. Please help them understand the danger of thinking God and universe are the same. You are so much more! Please take away all influence and demonic interference that keeps the eyes from seeing, the ears from hearing, and the heart from feeling You. Please, try again Lord. Til the last breath and then some…try again. Thank You Jesus, Your love is mighty. You want this even more than I. Salvation is Your will and I pray this in faith that Your will be done. I love You. In Christ name, Amen
I listened to the story of Jesus and Barabbas the other day. It had me thinking about all the battles with temptation. You know that one or two things that are really tough for you? The ones you pray hard over and wish God would just take them away cause the battle is so hard and you keep failing. So, you have Jesus, good and pure and full of love and then you have Barabbas, evil, hateful, all the bad things a person can be. They are both wrapped in chains and set before the crowd. Pilate tells the crowd to choose. Which of them do they want to set free? The next time the temptation hits you, whatever that thing is that you have really been working on, picture yourself in that crowd, given that choice. Will you remove the chains from Jesus or Barabbas?
Lord, in Your name I speak over this virus and the fear and panic it has caused. You say resist the devil and he has no choice but to flee. Where You are he has no power. He is a conquered foe. I speak in complete faith and reliance on Your promise that You are in control of this. Ask not, have not…so I ask of You to release this fear, to renew in us a new spirit Lord, to remind us that You take care of the birds in the sky and You hold us even higher than them. What can man or virus do unto us when we have You? I am thankful that You will take every bad circumstance of this virus and use it for Your good. Im thankful that I dont have to sit back and worry constantly knowing that You have promised to provide my needs. I pray this over everyone out there that they turn their hearts towards You so they can live in the same confidence that You have given me that I have NOTHING to fear. That I am to worry over NOTHING. Thank you Lord for easing anxiety, depression, worry and fear. Thank You Lord that this virus will clear out quickly and not a speck will be left behind. I thank you Lord that all tragedies will turn to blessings and people see You and Your good work through all of this. I pray for the lost Lord that are living in such fear over this. I pray for those trying to rely on their own strength and finding ways of comforting themselves without turning to You. I thank you that You are right there waiting for them with open arms. I ask forgiveness and thank You for Your grace when I fall short of the trust and faith I know to always have in You. We love You Lord, we trust You. Thank You for not forsaking us. In Christ name I pray, Amen
